\n//Using Titanium 1.6.1 on iOS 4.2\n\nvar row = Ti.UI.createTableViewRow();\nrow.hasChild = true;\n\nvar label = Ti.UI.createLabel({\ntext: \"Updating\",\ntextAlign: 'left',\nfont: {\n fontSize: 13\n},\nbottom: 5,\nheight: 16,\nleft: 10, \nright: 50\n});\n\nrow.add(label);\n\n//update text after database query\n//Case 1:\nlabel.text = \"Some long text that would cause it to display on two lines\"\n\n//Case 2:\nlabel.text = \"Some short text\"\n\n//event called after a remote server updated our local info\n//this happens in a closure to keep a reference to label\nTi.App.addEventListener('someEvent', function(e) {\n label.text = \"Some other long text to display possibly on two lines\"\n});\n\n// [More code not related ...]\n// Add row to a table view, and the table view to the current tab window
\n
\nTest results:
\nCase 1:
\nAt this moment as the view is attached to the window the label is\ndisplayed on two lines.
The event is triggered, at a later time, the new text is put on\ntwo lines.
\nCase 2:
\nAt this moment as the view is attached to the window the label is\ndisplayed on one line, since the text is short enough to fit on one\nline.
The event is triggered, at a later time, the new text which too\nlong for a single ine is cut off and '...' attached to the end of\nthe text
\nSo it looks like the view will not grow automatically at a later\ntime. I don't know what the intended behavior is.
\nAnd I could not find any setting to choose a default behavior.
I hope this is clear enough.
\nThank you for your time guys.
