Description
Error encountered during update
An error occurred while uninstalling
session context was:(profile=profile, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Uninstall, operand=[R]com.appcelerator.titanium.feature.rcp_root 3.2.3.201404290739-837YFA8FFBdX_z0Kz0x6oEDEGA48 --> null, action=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.touchpoint.natives.actions.CleanupzipAction).
Backup of file /opt/titanium-studio/configuration/.settings/org.eclipse.equinox.p2.metadata.repository.prefs failed.
File that was copied to backup could not be deleted: /opt/titanium-studio/configuration/.settings/org.eclipse.equinox.p2.metadata.repository.prefs
Deleting the file manually doesn't fix the issue.
Have you tried this more recently?
Yes. The problem happens also with the update to 3.5.0. This issue also happens with update to 4.0.0 https://community.appcelerator.com/topic/220/studio-update-windows-error
[~fokkezb] I believe the issue is people installed as administrator, and then need to update as administrator. It appears to be a permission issue. "Restarting Titanium Studio as root and performing the update seems to work."
So could we inform users about that when we don't have permission to delete that file? Suggest them to start Studio as root?
I don't know if that's the _only_ file that will cause that problem [~cwilliams], thoughts?
